Description: This is what I believe to be an early production Cook & Brother Confederate carbine, manufactured in New Orleans, Louisiana under the Cook & Brother brand. The lock plate is stamped “Cook & Brother/ NO. 1862/ 69. To the rear of the hammer is a depiction of the Confederate First National Flag. This example has all of the early features including the iron swivel ramrod, brass trigger guard, brass but plate, pinched front sight and folding rear sight. This carbine is not fitted with sling swivel and brass carbine ring. It has a ring on the trigger guard. Refinished dark walnut stock in nice condition, barrel has a nice brown patina. Lock is strong and functional and Bore is dirty with no rifling. A very rare Confederate carbine, first one I ever saw. As is - No returns.
