Description: EXCEPTIONAL INDIAN WARS SHARPS U.S. MODEL 1868 CONVERSION .50-70 GOVT. CAL. CAVALRY CARBINE. All original, correct and complete, conversion of the Model 1859 Civil War Sharps Carbine altered for use in the post Civil War era. Type used prior to the adoption of the Model 1873 Trapdoor Carbine. Exceptional, about near mint condition with 98% blue on the barrel and 90% plus case hardening on the lock, frame and butt plate. Excellent screws with most of the original blue. Even the Lawrence Patent rear sight has all the blue. Stock and forend with the original finish and a mint Indian Wars Government Inspector’s cartouche (“DFC”) in the center of the right side of the butt. Mint bore and perfect working order.
