Extremely Rare Harpers Ferry Brass Mounted Model 1842 Hall Fish Tail Carbine

These don't turn up very often at all. Total production of the 1842 Hall carbines comes out to 1,001. They were .52 caliber smoothbore, however this gun was crudely rifled for issuance during the American Civil War, very possibly done at a Confederate arsenal, other rifled examples are known. All of these were sent to the 1st US Dragoons for service in western campaigns and saw hard use. This gun is no exception showing wear and use. Looks to have been cleaned a long time ago. The 1842 date on the breech block is visible but a little hard to make out due to some dings. Original brass moutings, the only Hall made to feature brass. Original saddle ring and bar on the left side of the gun. Fishtail opening lever. 21 inch barrel. Tulip sharped ramrod appears original. Of historical importance, these were the last carbines to be made at Harpers Ferry Arsenal. This is an incredible oppurtunity to acquire a very attractive carbine that is often missing from even the most advanced collections.
