Model 1860 Spencer Carbine Good + condition, Saw war use for Sure, Original
Description: This is a very good, model 1860 Spencer Carbine. It has a 20-inch barrel and shows wear on the stock and metal. It defiantly saw the Elephant. This is a true model 1860 Spencer not a post-war gun made by Burnside. The SN is 37385. It is in as-issued condition and has not been messed with. Most of these true Spencers were issued from 1863 to 1865 to the U.S. Govt. But many were sold to private individuals and units. The famed mounted Lightning Brigade was armed with Spencers by General Wilder of Indiana, who purchased these guns for his unit. The Spencer Rifle and Carbine were far ahead of there time. The U.S. Ordinance Dept. rejected the gun because the seven-shot lever action gun would use too much Ammunition. Abraham Lincoln test-fired the weapon and was impressed enough to approve the Gun. This original is marked "Spencer Repeating Rifle Co. Boston Mass. Pat'd March 6, 1860." Shipping is $45.00 to most states. Alaska, California, Oregon, Hawaii and Washington Please add $20.00. Money back if not satisfied with the buyer paying the return shipping.
