Description: SUPER SALE $3350 ALL IN **** The Innovative Spencer Repeating Rifle Co. Army Model Saddle Ring Carbine, made circa 1863-1865 in Boston, Massachusetts, during the Civil War. These lever-operated, breech-loading rifles were ahead of there time and had a lasting impact on the future of Firearms and War. Though their service life in the U.S. military was relatively short, the Brilliant Christopher Spencer changed everything especially after shooting with and gaining the endorsement of President Abraham Lincoln. Rumor had it a captured Rebel at Gettysburg remarked you could “load in the morning and fire all day!” and that's what made this such a remarkable weapon the Spencer had a 7-round magazine tube in the butt of the gun. This gave the soldier unbelieveable firepower and Speed considering most troops were muzzle-loading single shots or a breech-loading carbine. The innovative Spencer Carbine became a sought after and Iconic Civil War Weapon. Every novice or serious collector of Civil War or Firearm history understands this is a Must Have to display in their collection. After the War it helped tame the Western Frontier. The Plant's first military metallic cartridge repeating rifle in Cal. 56-50. S# 8878. Bbl. 22" carbine w/ high barleycorn front sight & graduated leaf rear sight. Action is fitted w/ Stabler cutout & has the Cavalry saddle ring & bar on left side. Band fastened walnut forearm & straight grip stock w/ inletted swivel & steel buttplate. 7 Rd. tubular mag. inserts through buttplate. The metal has faded to an attractive smokey gray. The Forearm presents with very nice dark finish and the band has a case colored finish. Stock has Battlefield repaired cracks on left side w/ expected handling marks. Both mag. tubes are intact.
