Sharps 1853 Carbine John Brown Military Type.
Description: This is the first 1853 Sharps I've seen with a US Model 1858 musket rear sight. Looking at the base it looks like it could have left the factory like that or US ordered some of these without sights and added them. Serial numbers match and a 29 is stamped on the trigger guard and under the barrel and under the forearm. I haven't seen this before either. I have owned a number of the 1853 sharps over the years. I have two more in my collection. There is a break which has been repaired behind the lockplate. It is not completely broken through crack goes from the trigger plate to the breech on right side. This is a real nice carbine with deep rifling in the .52 caliber bore. Email if you have any questions. Tiny piece broken off at the top leaf of the rear sight that is in the patchbox. Antique: Yes Price: $4,750.00 Contact Seller |
