Sharps New Model 1865 Percussion Carbine Inspected and Nice.
Description:
This is an early 1865 Sharps Carbine with two cartouches where the saddle bar is located. Most of these were converted to cartridge and the few that survived in percussion were commercially sold. This one is military all the way.
The lock and frame is smooth with brown in spots that is staining with maybe some very minor pitting. It would clean up very nicely but I'd leave it alone. Sharp markings on the barrel especially NEW MODEL 1865 stamping. Perhaps 20-30% blue at rear of barrel and the rest a plum color. Very fine bore and mechanically excellent. Wood is nice with regular use. A really nice and very scarce carbine in percussion.
