Smith Lifter Carbine (Poultney & Trimble marked) Cal. .50 Ser. 111XX.
Description: Inv. 5958 Smith Lifter Carbine (Poultney & Trimble marked) Cal. .50 Ser. 111XX. This is an outstanding example of a very interesting breech loading Civil War carbine. The condition is remarkable. It has at least 90-95% of the original factory blue. The bulk of the loss is on trigger guard, barrel band and the butt plate. There are a few pin pricks and some light surface flaking, but the rest of the gun is just super. The frame still has about 25% of the original case colors. The hammer, a soft silver patina. The walnut stock has 98% 0f the original lacquer with just a few light surface scratches and dings. There is a hairline crack just to the rear of the saddle ring bar. The left side has two inspector's cartouches.. One JH in an oval the other, what appears to be a box with an LR. The left side of the barrel is inspector stamped LFR. The screw heads all have their bright fire blue and none have been marred. The hammer and nipples show little or no real evidence of use. The gun locks up tight and fires correctly. The bore is mirror bright with razor sharp rifling. There are a several scattered patches of light frosting, certainly not enough to effect the accuracy of the gun. This gun must have sat out the great conflict and then was stored. It will be a welcome addition to any Civil War/ carbine collection,... $1695 To purchase this firearm or if you want to request more information contact us at: Email ckguns AT ymail DOT com Phone 201-512-0002 Cell 201-575-6838 FAX 201-215-4759 We accept most major credit cards.
