U.S. Civil War Military Issued Percussion Triplett & Scott Repeating Carbine
Description: A U.S. Civil War Military Issued Percussion Triplett & Scott Repeating Carbine In Very Fine Untouched Condition. Serial #3,596 with all matching numbers throughout. All original and complete with a 22 inch barrel. Made from 1864-1865. The carbine has excellent metal and clear markings throughout with crisp edges. Marked on the left side of the receiver, " MERIDEN MAN'FG. CO/MERIDEN. CONN" and "KENTUCKY" on the left side of the breech. The tang is marked "TRIPLETT & SCOTT/PATENT DEC. 6, 1864". The barrel. breech & butt plate all retain most of their original factory blue with some areas turning a plum color. The receiver and tang both have a nice even natural patina on them. The trigger guard shows some darkening colors on it. The butt plate & front barrel band have turned a natural plum blue color. All of the wood on the carbine is fine throughout with fine edges and a nice even color to it. Their is an old hairline in the wood coming from the the tube at the bottom which is common on these carbines because the wood is thinner in this area, this appears to be period with the carbine. It has clear "N/W.B." Inspectors Marks on the left side of the wood near the butt. The carbine has an excellent bright bore and action in it. This is A Fine Example Of An Early U.S. Civil War U.S. Military Issued Percussion Triplett & Scott Repeating Carbine That Would Be A Fine Addition To Any Collection!
