Description: An Early U.S. Civil War Model 1860 Spencer Carbine Identified By Serial Number Directly To "John B.R. Fix", 19th NY Cavalry, (1st NY Dragoons, Co. F) In Nice Untouched Condition. Serial #35,623. All original and complete. The carbine has very good untouched metal, markings, and edges. All of the metal on the carbine has a wonderful & natural dark brown patina on it. The wood on the gun is very good throughout with a wear spot on the backside where the tube is showing through the wood. This wear spot shows how much action the carbine saw during its use. It has a very good bore and action. Private John Fix mustered into The N.Y. 1st Dragoons, Co. F. on Sept. 3, 1862 & mustered out at Cloud's Mills, VA on June 30, 2065. The regiment lost 126 men & 4 officers in battle. They fought the entire war in VA. and were in 94 skirmishes and battles. These battles included Deserted House VA., Manassas VA, Todd's Tavern, VA., Cold Harbor VA., Trevillian Station VA., Petersburg, Deep Bottom, Newtown, Shepherdstown, Smithfield, Opequan, Winchester, New Market, Cedar Creek, Five Forks, & Appomattos Court House, VA.
