The 13.9mm (approx. 55 caliber) percussion Austrian Lorenz No. 2 Model 1854 rifle was used extensively by the Union and Confederates during the Civil War. This rifle musket is ready for restoration. The front band and rear sight are missing, the nipple is battered, and the stock is repaired to the rear of the lock. All other parts, including the ramrod, are present. The metal has a brown patina with minimal roughness. The bore is fair with visible rifling. With the exception of the repair, the stock is very good. With the exception of half cock which does not hold, the action functions. This gun would be a good restoration project or parts donor for another restoration.
