1855 COLT MARTIAL REVOLVING RIFLE
Description: 1855 Colt 44 Cal. Revolving Martial Rifle. Six shot. 31 5/16" barrel. Serial No.139. These rifles were the first to be procured by the government. Only 100 of these 44 Cal. rifles were delivered on April 13,1857. With the standard accepted 10% survival rate, this is one rare Martial rifle. Seldom offered. This rifle has all visable matching serial numbers. Frame, trigger guard, and buttplate. U.S. COLTS PATENT on upper tang as only on Martial rifles. Both cartouches are very proud on the original finish stock and forearm. There are traces of original blue on barrel along both sides of barrel above forearm. Some original casecolors on loading lever. Some light flash pitting on cylinder and frame from firing. Has original front and rear sights, original ramrod and brass extension in buttstock. Bore has great rifling, but has some darkning. Overall this is a fantastic ORIGINAL UNTOUCHED example of the most desirable COLT REVOLVING MARTIAL RIFLE. Please call 973-214-3407 with questions.
