Description: A Scarce U.S. Civil War Springfield Model 1855 Percussion Rifle Musket With Patchbox And dated 1860 In Very Good Untouched Condition. All original and complete. The Musket has nice metal and markings. The lock is marked "U.S. Springfield, & dated 1860. It has a clear Eagle on the Maynard primer Door. THe barrel is marked with a "VP & Eagle" and is also dated 1860. There is a "#39", & a letter "G" on the top of the butt plate. These are most likely regimental markings. All of the metal on the gun has a natural light patina on it. The wood on the gun is fine throughout with nice edges. It has a very nice grain and color to it. There is a very clear "E.S.A." U.S. Inspectors cartouche on the backside. It has a fine bore and action. This Is A Very Nice Looking Example Of A U.S. Civil War Springfield Model 1855 Percussion Rifle Musket Dated 1860 And With A Very Scarce Patchbox. These Springfield 1855 Muskets Are Very Hard To Come By!
