CIVIL WAR Antique FRENCH ST ETIENNE 1853 GENDARMERIE Rifled Musket SABER 69 Percussion Musket with SWORD BAYONET
Description: CIVIL WAR Antique FRENCH ST ETIENNE 1853 GENDARMERIE Rifled Musket SABER 69 Percussion Musket with SWORD BAYONET Here we present an antique French Model 1853 Gendarmerie Percussion Rifled Musketoon, manufactured in 1856 at the French arsenal at St. Etienne. This is the typical Continental Rifled Musket that was imported to the Confederacy just before and during the U.S. Civil War. These were also bought and used by the Union Army in small quantities as described in the book Civil War Guns by William Edwards on page 262. This example is in .69 Caliber and is rifled with a adjustable back sight and a blade front sight. These were usually produced as muskets, but the export trade required rifles, indicating this was possibly made for export to the U.S. after being arsenal altered. It is fully steel mounted and does bear a maker marking on the lock plate: Mre Imp.ale de St. Etienne, indicating manufacture at the French Arsenal located in St. Etienne. There are Royal Armory proof and acceptance marks throughout. The overall condition is very good. Strong action. The bore is in good shape for its age. This example sports a solid stock with use apparent. Clear markings. Liege proofed barrel. Awesome saber bayonet. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 34-1/4 inches. Caliber: .69 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $2100 #228571 SOLD Antique: Yes |
