CIVIL WAR Antique SAVAGE Model 1861 Rifle-MUSKET
Description: CIVIL WAR Antique SAVAGE Model 1861 Rifle-MUSKET With Bayonet & Grand Army of the Republic Belt Here we present an antique Savage Contract US Model 1861 Civil War Rifle-Musket, made in 1863 in Middletown, Connecticut. The Model 1861 was the primary infantry weapon of the American Civil War for the Union. The Model 1861 was contracted out to over 20 different companies aside from the national armory at Springfield. Compared to the total production numbers of over a million, production of this contract was limited at 25,520 making these scarce and desirable. The lock is dated “1863” and marked with a federal eagle beside “U.S./SAVAGE R.F.A. CO./MIDDLETOWN, CT.” The top of the barrel is marked “1863” and the left side of the barrel is proof marked with “VP” and an eagle’s head. The left side of the stock has a visible inspector’s cartouche, “DWT” for D. Waldo Tyler. This fantastic Civil War rifle-musket is accompanied by an original bayonet with its original leather frog, Grand Army of the Republic belt with the monogramed initials “GAR”, a leather bullet pouch with several conical bullets, a homemade powder measure, and a sack of patches. This rifle has been well-kept and a shooter in someone’s collection. The overall condition is very good. The metal surfaces are mostly bright with a light patina. The markings are clear and legible. The stock is in great shape. The bore is clean. The action on this rifle is excellent, strong and crisp. Here is a fantastic Civil War musket that anyone could be proud of! Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 40 inches. Caliber: .58 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE.
