Civil War Dated British Export P-1853 Rifle-Musket
Description: NSN, .577 caliber, 39" barrel with a very good, bright bore that has some mild freckling within the grooves. This is an 1861 dated, “TOWER" marked musket that has an overall pewter gray patina mottled with spots of plum-brown freckling, and some light-moderate pitting surrounding the nipple and bolster. The lockplate has a matching mottled gray patina with crisp “TOWER / 1861" and “(crown)" markings (no royal cypher, nor any British military markings are present), while the brass trigger guard, nosecap, and screw bolsters have an attractive, dark yellow-ochre patina with a few scattered marks here and there, and a generally dark brown patina along the edges. The walnut stock has a dark, re-applied varnish finish with scattered minor handling marks throughout. The musket has a replacement steel ramrod, and a wooden tompion is included. The mechanism functions flawlessly and the musket rates fine condition overall. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes Manufacturer: Enfield Model: 1853 Caliber Info: .577 Gauge Info: .577 |
