CIVIL WAR Era Antique PRUSSIAN POTSDAM M1809 Percussion Conversion MUSKET
State Armory PERCUSSION MUSKET Made circa the 1810s
Description: CIVIL WAR Era Antique PRUSSIAN POTSDAM M1809 Percussion Conversion MUSKET State Armory PERCUSSION MUSKET Made circa the 1810s Here we present an antique Prussian Percussion Conversion Model 1809 Musket, manufactured circa the 1810s at the Prussian Armory at Potsdam. This example would have started out life as a flintlock musket that was converted likely sometime just before the start of the American Civil War. The Potsdam musket was the standard infantry weapon of the Royal Prussian Army from the 18th century until the military reforms of the 1840s. Four models were produced at Potsdam, including the Model 1723, the Model 1740, the Model 1809, and the Model 1831. This musket would have been used in Prussian conflicts during the 1840s and 50s, including the Egyptian-Ottoman War, the Greater Poland Uprising, the Revolutions of 1848, and the First Schleswig War, before being sold to the United States government as late as 1864 during the American Civil War. Though thoroughly obsolete, both the Union and the Confederacy were desperate for small arms as the South had little capability to make their own and the North had to scramble to ramp up their own production. The overall condition is very good. Some original finish traces remain. The stock is solid throughout with light grain splitting ahead of the rear lock screw. The hammer doesn’t catch. Visible cartouche on the right buttstock. Good, darkened bore. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 35-1/4 inches. Caliber: .71 Percussion Conversion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $1150 #250550 SOLD Antique: Yes |
