Civil War Model 1841 Musket with RARE CONFEDERATE C. CHAPMAN Lock
A Great Piece to Fill the Unobtanium Niche in Many Collections
Description: Civil War Model 1841 Musket with RARE CONFEDERATE C. CHAPMAN Lock A Great Piece to Fill the Unobtanium Niche in Many Collections Here we present an antique US Model 1841 Musket with a C. Chapman lock. The “C. Chapman” rifles are thought to have been crafted by Charles Chapman of Chattanooga, Tennessee. He was the superintendent of an armory. Only a small handful of these arms are known to exist today. The total number of these rifles produced was very limited—likely fewer than one hundred, some experts estimating fewer than 60. These weapons closely resembled the U.S. Model 1841 “Mississippi” rifles. It is fitting then, that someone paired this lock with this musket. It is certainly one of those pieces that will fill the niche that the vast majority of collectors of Civil War and specifically Confederate objects have empty in their collections. The overall condition is good. The action is generally strong, but the hammer can sometimes slip off the full-cock notch into half. Bored smooth to .70 caliber. “5” is marked on the inside of the hammer and the interior of the lock. The stock is solid overall, though it has a stable sliver at the ramrod channel. The front lock screw is a replacement. Barrel is 33 inches. Caliber: .70 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! ancestryguns $3200 #250321 SOLD Antique: Yes |
