Civil War US Model 1861 Rifle-Musket by Springfield
Description: NSN, .58 Caliber, 40" barrel with a very good, bright bore that has some minor freckling within the grooves. This musket has an 1861-dated, Springfield-marked lock with the metal having an overall darkly mottled patina with even pitting and mild surface oxidation throughout. The walnut stock has some small chips present along the ramrod channel, and numerous small handling marks and blemishes scattered throughout, as well as no visible inspector cartouche on the left side opposite the lock. A correct ramrod is included, but does not fully seat within the channel, and the sling swivels have been removed. The lock is still tight and functions flawlessly. This is a very nice looking Civil War-dated US musket, in very good overall condition, and would make a fine piece for display. Antique SOLD Antique: Yes |
