CONFEDERATE ANCHOR/S-Marked Enfield Tower 1863 Percussion Musket Blockade Runner BSAT Cartouche
Description: CONFEDERATE ANCHOR/S-Marked P53 Enfield Tower 1863 Percussion Musket Blockade Runner BSAT Cartouche of the Birmingham Small Arms Trade. Lock plate has the correct crown and 1863 date. Original in every way, this one has the correct sights, sling swivels, barrel bands, brass butt plate and end cap, one-piece musket stock with small Anchor/S on underside, larger Anchor/S on top just ahead of butt plate toe, BG contractor initials on left side of stock, and slotted ram rod (also marked BG). The Anchor/S marking indicates it made it through the Southern port blockades, was inspected and issued to some Confederate infantryman. Typical of these muskets, there is some deeper pitting around the barrel breech and nipple. Otherwise the steel parts are an even dark brown and the brass is an uncleaned mellow mustard color. Stock does show some drying age cracks longitudinally along the right side, and has a piece missing just ahead of the hammer at the receiver. Nipple is damaged/peened over. Strong hammer spring; hammer clicks into place crisply. Barrel has correct proof marks. Bore is surprisingly still good. A must-have for the Civil War collector. Grades NRA Antique Good. TERMS: No international sales. Antique so it can ship directly to you assuming your local laws allow it. Please be aware of what is legal in your state. 3 day non-firing inspection. Buyer pays return shipping. Payment by bank check, personal check or money order. All major credit cards accepted with 4% convenience fee added. Shipping will be USPS Priority Mail with tracking and insurance included in the fees.
