Confederate Enfield musket dated 1862 with JS Anchor and matching import numbers w/possible ID
Description: Well used Confederate Enfield with import numbers on buttplate and ramrod! Stock has JS anchor mark and overall is in solid shape with no major cracks or chips aside from a well worn area of the stock behind and the side (above lockplate) of the nipple area that is heavily worn from use. Pitting on the barrel is evident on the barrel as well in this area. Overall dark brown unmessed with patina on iron and brass buttplate/nose cap. Rear sight housing intact however the sight ladder and bar are missing. Rear sling swivel is a homemade replacement and front swivel is missing. This musket was purchased from a family estate in 2009 in Ft. Worth Texas and has a sale tag that mentions family connection. The rear of the tag has additional information from the individual who purchased this musket at the sale. I have done minimal research on the name on the tag and could not find a match. This musket is being priced without any sort of identification. NOTE: I was asked if the buttplate is iron... it is not, it is brass but the patina is dark. SOLD Antique: Yes |
