Description:
A Very Early, Desirable, & Scarce First Model U.S. Military Issued Model 1865 Allin Conversion Breech Loading Rifle In Very Good Condition. Made in 1865 & designed by "Erskine S, Allin", Master Armorer at Springfield Armory. There were 5,000 made from the Model 1861 Percussion Musket. The rifle has very good metal & markings. The breech retains its original darking blue color on it. All the rest of the metal on the rifle has a very nice untouched patina on it. It has fine looking wood throughout it with a very nice grain to it. All edges are very good. There is a partial faint U.S Inspectors Cartouche on the backside of the wood. The rifle has a very good bore and tight action in it. This Is A Very Good Example Of An Early, Desirable, & Scarce First Model U.S. Military Issued Model 1865 Allin Conversion Breech Loading Rifle!
