Harpers Ferry Musketoon Dated 1821

Description:
A very well used , salty and may have well seen sea service Harpers Ferry musket dated 1821 and converted for the Civil War mist likely for the Confderacy. With a 28" smooth bore of .69cal, with two retaining bands, and trumpet iron ram-rod. The exterior metal all have very fine pin~prick salt and pepper small pits from long handling. The lock works good with a clear rear date and the  Eagle and U.S.  mrking under the nipple area is very light registration. Still visible is the VP proof on the top of the breech area. The American walnut stock has been through hell and back , with dents, dings, and splits, but still complete and used that way by the smooth character of the finish.A colorful weapon of the Civil War that may well have moved west after the war for use in the Indian Wars! When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith  before  shooting.
