L.Pomeroy 1843 Artillery Musketoon

Description:
A converted to percussion for the Civil War this L.Pomeroy artillery musketoon with a 30" round barrel with sharp rifling and minor surface corrosion.This barrel has a bayonet lug on the uderside of the muzzle.The rare sight is missing, and front sight is part of the barrel band. The American walnut stock has raised grain like ir had been lurdoors a long time and possibly after the Civil War this gun went westward, and an oval inspector mark is still evident. Exterior metal is brownish, with scattred very fine pits, The top tang is dayed 1844, and lock plate 1843. Barrel proofs near the breech are marked :US 5II and P in a circle. Comes with an 1861 ram-rod. A scarce gun as when it was converted it was made into a musketoon? Action works well, on this .69 cal rifle.When buying a gun always have it examined by a competent gunsmith  before  shooting.
