Barrel marked with "V/P/[eagle} proofs and 1853 date on tang. Lockplate shows "[eagle]/US forward of hammer with "SPRING/FIELD/1859" to the rear. Counterpane shows cartouche of James Stillman. **EXCELLENT condition overall. Barrel retains its bright finish with some staining at stock seams-easily cleaned. Stock still retains a feathery finish.
