Model 1861 PS Justice Type lll Civil War 69 caliber percussion musket

Description:
This is number 2262 of approximately 2300 PS Justice muskets manufactured in 1861 for use in the Civil War. The functioning lock is marked US PS Justice Phillidephia. There is also a visible but faint W T Wickham visible on the lock as these contained some surplused Model 1816 parts. The 39", approximately 69 caliber barrel has a front brass sight and I'm not sure if it had a rear sight. The attractive full length stock is in good condition with nice color, but has a chip repair (small nails) near the tang and some a hairline crack in front of the lock, by the rear lock screw and several on the back side of the but stock. I read that the rear sights were just soldered on and fell of after firing. There are also some markings on the tang which are difficult to make out along with a V P eagle head at the breach. The brass trigger gaurd is marked p and the serial number 2262. The but plate, trigger gaurd patch box and barrel band are brass with a pleasant brown is patina. The original bright lock and barrel are turning brown. As I understand most of these muskets were mostly used by Pennsylvania volunteers during the civil war. please feel free to contact me with any contact.
