PVT Albert Dickinson, 2nd NJ Inf. Civil War Remington m1842 Maynard Conversion
Musket & Accouterments
Description: ( THE REMAINDER OF MY COLLECTION IS POSTED GB, ON UNDER SAME SELLER: greenesgt. I AM CONSIDERING MOVING ALL TO GUNSINTERNATIONAL......................................................................................................................Albert A Dickinson, mustered in May 28, 1861; transferred to Signal Corps, U. S. Army, September 1, 1863; discharged therefrom May 27, 1864 Co. G, 4th Regt NJ Vols.************** Remington Model 1816 Conversion Maynard Tape Primer System ID'd Remington Model 1816 Conversion Maynard Tape Primer System ID'd to Pvt. Albert Dickinson ....The inside flap of the cartridge box bears the name Dickinson in period India ink. A modern tag attached to the cartridge box, origin unknown, gives a first and middle initial with a regiment attributing ownership to "A. J. Dickinson/2nd NJ." HDS lists this private simply as "Albert Dickinson," no middle initial. Todd, in State Forces, says that in May 1861 the 2nd NJ was armed with "M1842 or converted muskets," therefore this attribution can only be partially corroborated as, indeed, this musket is a "conversion." Barrel and lock have a light brown patina mixed with brown stains. A piece of wood missing behind the hammer. Buttstock with dark opened-grained wood with some nicks and dings mixing in. A very sharp cartouche on the left flat. Also marks on the comp of stock at the buttplate. All leather good; some wear and crazing; and the seam on the bayonet scabbard is coming loose........................................ Included in this is (1)Remington Model 1816 Conversion Maynard Tape Primer System ID'd to Pvt. Albert J. Dickinson (2) His cartridge box w/US plate abd tins (3) Cap pouch w/nipple pick (4) Belt with US "PUPPY PAW" beltplate marked "W H SMITH / BROOKLYN" (4) His bayonet with scabbard and (5) Original wrapped roll of Maynard primers! A VERY RARE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN SUCH A COMPLETE ACCOUTERMENT SET WITH MUSKET OF AN ID'D US CIVIL WAR SOLDIER!..................................................... S/h $45 (48 states)...READ MY FEEDBACK, ANDWITH CONFIDENCE!
