Rare SUHL CIVIL WAR IMPORT Antique V.C. SCHILLING P1853 ENFIELD RifleMusket Prussian Make w/BAYONET, SCABBARD & SLING
Description: Rare SUHL CIVIL WAR IMPORT Antique V.C. SCHILLING P1853 ENFIELD RifleMusket Prussian Make w/BAYONET, SCABBARD & SLING Here we present a Rare Antique V.C. Schilling Pattern 1853 Enfield Three Band Rifle-Musket, made circa the early 1860s in Suhl, Thuringia. This gun is simply marked “VCS” forward of the hammer, indicating that it was produced by Valentin Christoph Schilling. Schilling was a major player in the Suhl gun trade, with his roots going back to as early as 1816, and the firm remaining in business until the early 1900’s, before being absorbed as part of a larger manufacturing consortium. The gun follows the standard Enfield pattern with a 39” barrel in .577 caliber with 3-groove rifling. Both the Union and the Confederacy imported Patter 1853 rifle and liked them. This is a seldom-seen surviving example imported from Suhl! This example includes a British socket bayonet, a brass tipped leather scabbard, and a partial leather sling. The overall condition is very good. Dark patina throughout. The action is excellent. The bore is dim with worn rifling. The stock shows use and remains solid. This is a fantastic piece and one that rarely comes up for sale. Own the original! This is a legitimate antique and not a reproduction. Barrel is 39 inches. Caliber: .577 Percussion Overall condition as seen in photos. Very Fast. Very Safe. FREE SHIPPING WORLDWIDE. Delivered directly to your door by express mail! Guaranteed AUTHENTIC & Includes CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY. ancestryguns $3485 #227563 SOLD Antique: Yes |
