Smith Civil War Saddle Ring Carbine .50 Cal.
Description: This Smith Patent carbine is in very good condition for its age, without taking into consideration its heavy patina, as most have these days. The wood is without doubt in its unsanded condition, with a very nice cartouche on the left side of the stock. The line on the stock, below the cartouche, looks like a crack, but it isn't, according to its previous owner. It is, instead, a wide scratch among a couple of other much smaller scratches in the same area of the stock. Whatever it is, it is very shallow. The bore doesn't appear to be corroded and gauges right at .50 inches. The mechanical function is excellent. All of the parts appear original to the carbine and all of the markings on the receiver are sharp and in the places they should be. There is a 7670 on the barrel lug, sandwiched between a 76 and a 70 on the bottom of the receiver ears that I didn't get a photo of, apparently serial numbers put there during manufacturing long ago. Please refer to the photos, as they are an integral part of the description. Buyer pays shipping and insurance. NO FFL REQUIRED, the carbine is an antique and ships directly to the buyer. There is a three day inspection and return period, provided that the item is returned, unfired and not disassembled, in the exact condition it was shipped in, with all of its original parts intact. The buyer is responsible for payment of the cost of returning the item plus insurance. Thanks for looking.
