U.S. SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1816 CONVERTED TO PERCUSSION AND RIFLED BY "HEWES & PHILLIPS

Description:
.69 caliber, 40" 3 groove rifled barrel with 1st type small bolster and clean-out screw. The barrel dated "1861" and marked "H&P" at the breech. The lock is marked "SPRING/FIELD/1829" At the rear. 1861 pattern rear barrel sight. Full length walnut stock secured by three flat bands with springs. In superb original condition having a nice gunmetal polish, very crisp stampings on all parts. Excellent wood with sharp edges and two excellent cartouches on the left flat. Minty bore. Mechanically excellent.
