Very Fine Civil War Arsenal Conversion US Model Harpers Ferry 1819 Hall Breech-Loading Rifle
Description: NSN, .52 Caliber, 32 1/2" barrel with an excellent, bright bore. This is a very handsome rifle that has an 1832-dated breech piece that has about 60-65% of a lustrous blue finish applied during the conversion to percussion, and pale gray on the balance. The barrel and other metal components retain 75-80% of the original browned finish, with silvering and mild gray fading at the muzzle, as well as along the high edges and projections. The walnut stock is in fine shape with some minor handling marks and small blemishes scattered about the otherwise fine added military oil finish. A barely visible arsenal repair is present on the top of the wrist where it meets the breech piece (a commonly encountered repair). The "WAT" (William A. Thornton) inspector cartouche is crisp and clear on the left side ahead of the wrist, and an "IX P" conversion mark is present on the inside of the buttplate. The breech locks firmly, and the action functions flawlessly, and the original metal ramrod is included. This is a splendid example of an arsenal-converted Hall that would be very difficult to upgrade. Antique; Antique: Yes Price: $4,995.00 Contact Seller |
