Very Good Whitney Model 1841 "Mississippi" Rifle
Description: Very nice, unmessed with Whitney model 1841 "Mississippi" rifle. Overall very good plus antique condition. The barrel has light pitting near muzzle and rang. Otherwise, thinning factory brown finish. The original .54 bore has deep, clear rifling, with mild, scattered pitting. Needs a better scrubbing. Proofs on left side of breech. Has been updated to accept saber bayonet. The stock has small bumps and bruises, typical of a 175 year old military rifle. The left side forearm has a 7" splinter forming behind middle barrel band that could use attention. Strong lock marked E. WHITNEY over US and N.HAVEN 1848. Brass has a pleasing mustard color. The patchbox contains correct jag, nipple wrench/screwdriver and extra nipple. A very nice example to collect or shoot. $1600 + Shipping. Price: $1,600.00 Contact Seller |
