The Colt M4 Carbine “LE" models refer to law-enforcement/commercial variants of Colt’s military M4-pattern rifles. These became widely known in the civilian market during the 2000s–2010s and were often marked “Restricted Military / Government / Law Enforcement / Export Use Only" during the Federal Assault Weapons Ban years.
