Colt Lightning Pump Action Rifle in .22 Rimfire Caliber **Mfg 1890 - Beautifully Refinished Rifle**
Description: For consideration is a beautiful 1890 vintage antique Colt Lightning pump action rifle in .22 short/long caliber. The Colt Lightning Carbine or Colt Lightning Rifle was a slide-action (pump-action) rifle manufactured by Colt from 1884 until 1904 and was originally chambered in .44-40 caliber. Colt eventually made the Lightning Rifle in three different frame sizes, to accommodate a wide range of cartridges, from .22 Short caliber and .38-40 to .50-95 Express. Its profile resembles the pump-action rimfire rifles made by the Winchester Repeating Arms Company and Remington Arms.This beautiful Colt Lightning qualifies as an antique since it was made in 1890. This fine Colt Lightning appears to have been completely refinished at some point in time. The work was done by someone who is accomplished in the craft. Sights are a simple v notch rear and blade up front. The action is smooth and sure. The barrel has a good bore with strong rifling. Though it has been refinished this fine Colt Lightning would make a great addition to a collection or a strong start to a new collection.
