"Scarce First Model Colt 1855 Revolving Rifle (67948)
Description:
"Serial number 214. Made circa 1856-1859. 36 caliber with a 25" barrel. This gun was refinished at some point. The metal has a light brown patina that has some visible pitting. This gun is all matching. The action is works properly. This gun has a working oiler as well. The original ramrod is present. The stock is very good, but is possibly a replacement. There are two cartouche marks and we have yet to find a 36 caliber Martially marked gun that has sold in the past, or a reference to one. If it is actually a martial Colt Model 1855 in 36 caliber, then this is an exceedingly rare gun!
