***SALE PENDING***(Layaway?) MIRROR BORE!... Model 1861 Civil War Percussion Rifle-Musket by Colt......VERY NICE! Description: .58 cal, 40'' barrel with a bright excellent (truly exceptional) bore. The bright metal surfaces of this 1864-manufactured arm rate near excellent for their age as lightly cleaned with scattered spots of light pinprick pitting and minor oxidation. The lockplate is dated ''1864'' behind the hammer and marked ''U.S. / COLT'S PT F.A. MFG CO. / HARTFORD CT'' ahead of the hammer and the nipple bolster bears a Federal eagle. The top of the barrel is also dated ''1864'', the left upper flat is deeply struck with a ''V / P / (eagle head)'' and the left flat displays a crisp ''3855'' and ''M.N.M''. The buttplate is stamped ''U.S.'' on the tang and ''AM'' in the middle. The smooth black walnut straight grip stock rates very good plus with a touch of old added finish, a few short minor hairline cracks behind the flash shield and the expected minor scratches, dents and handling marks from light service in the Civil War. The left stock flat features two clear cartouches, the left butt is stamped ''3855'' like the barrel, and there is a small ''S'' behind the triggerguard tang and ''E.M.W.'' on the comb. The rifle-musket is equipped with a combination bayonet lug/blade front sight and a Model 1861 rear sight and a correct cupped ''tulip head'' ramrod is included.
