HISTORICAL COLT MEDIUM FRAME LIGHTNING SRC IN 44 CAL

Description:
Carbine features a 20 inch barrel chambered in 44 WCF caliber. Bore has shine and good rifling with scattered pits. Original sights include a post type front welded to the barrel and adjustable ladder type rear. Overall condition of the gun is approximately 75% blue starting to tone and plum to a brownish plum patina but still good blue showing. Muted case colors remain on hammer. Crisp action. Original walnut stock has a few handling mars but generally VG+ condition with most varnish remaining. Front grip is the correct earlier type with checkering. Complete with saddle ring and sling swivels. Made in 1889. Previously in the collection of Alberto de Quintana. I personally bought this gun from his great-great grandson along with the entire collection that was offered for sale. This Colt was a present from the General Governor of Cuba in 1889 to Alberto de Quintana where he was the “Intendente General”. Comes with some papers. This is a historically significant gun.
