Description:
This is a .50 cal. CVA Mountain Rifle made some time in the 1970's or early 80's with a 32" octagonal barrel with steel under-rib Percussion Maslin style lock has original plum brown Finnish remaining. Hook style breech with two barrel keys surrounded by German silver wedge inlays, one key is missing. Pewter nose cap. Stock has some very light figure present with mostly dark finish. There is a hairline crack on the left side of the stock (See Pictures), but it does not compromise the stability of the stock or hinder performance. Steel furniture includes the buttplate, trigger-guard and side lock screw washers. A nickel patch box is inlaid in the center of the right side of the stock. The barrel was rifled by Douglas Barrels. It has a 1 in 66 twist and the bore has been very well cared for. Bright and Shiny with very sharp and crisp rifling. There are no Spanish proof marks on it so it was made in the U.S.A. Later ones were made in Spain. The double set trigger works perfectly and the lock is positive. They are only a few handling marks on the stock and the barrel has aging brown finish. These rifles have a very good reputation for accuracy and have won many matches against custom made muzzle-loaders.
