7mm Mauser Custom Rifle by George Shielke - 7x57mm
Description: Absolutely stunning Custom built Mauser Rifle in 7x57mm built by reknowned gunsmith George Shielke, Titusville, New Jersey. Research indicates that the famous Jack O'Connor regarded George as a very fine gunsmith and close friend, through various notes and letters to his friends. The 7x57 Mauser was also the favorite caliber of O'Connors wife! All metalwork and woodwork done by George Shielke, truly an outstanding Mauser Custom rifle built off what appears to be a 1936 Mexican Mauser action with 20" tapered barrel with recessed crown and marked with the makers name along the top and 7mm as the caliber. Truly one of the finest 7x57 customs I have seen and I have had the pleasure of owning. Action and rifle appear unsed with a deep bright bore and perfect unmarked blueing. There are a few very light marks on the wood as can be seen from the pictures. Checkering is crisp and tight, full wrap around on the grip and forend. Comes with a Bausch & Lomb Balfour 8 fixed power scope.
