#24492, Al Biesen Gunmaker Spokane, Wn: A Total Custom by Al Biesen in 338 Winchester Magnum on a Winchester Pre-War Model 70 Action, The action was made in 1940, 24" barrel without any open sights, 2 piece Redfield scope bases, Straddle hinged floorplate with a center bow release, A 3-position Model 70 wing safety, Two panel teardrop bolt knob checkering, Model 70 trigger, Jeweled bolt and follower, Action rails inside and out are polished, Built-up & checkered bolt stop release, A pure Biesen Custom Classic style stock, Biesen classic full wrap around Fleur-De-Lis checkering with a fairly deep recess, Shadowline cheekpiece, Ebony forend tip, Biesen 2-screw checkered steel grip cap, 13 5/8" LOP over a 7/8" pad, 8 lbs. 7 oz., The bore is as new, An excellent piece of wood with excellent color and contrast and a lot of fiddleback, The original Biesen blue remains at 99%, The original stock finish at 98-99%, The checkering is at 100%, The bottom of the forend has a Gold diamond shaped escutcheon with "G E K" engraved on it. This piece is totally like the day it left the Biesen shop. I have had my share of Biesen rifles and this is classic Al Biesen with excellent inletting. Mr. Al Biesen is the Norman Rockwell of custom bolt rifles in America and his merits are covered extensively in the pages of Jack O'Connor and the Gun Digest.
