Caboth Oberndorf Mauser 30-06 Custom
Description:
Full custom 30-06 by Dave Caboth, Alta, Iowa based on a 1912 Oberndorf Mauser commercial sporting rifle action with a 24" Douglas Premium barrel with an island ramp front sight, banded sling stud, and an integral island rear sight with one standing and one folding leaf. Large ring Mauser receiver with Mauser logo on the front ring. Never drilled and tapped. Original factory bolt handle with pear shaped knob. Mauser flag safety. Original Oberndorf bottom metal with lever release floorplate and a Blackburn trigger. Stocked in a very nice piece of English Walnut with darkly contrasting mineral streaks. Shadow line pancake cheekpiece. Steel pistol grip cap.Two screw inletted rear sling stud. Point pattern checkering with a mullered border by ACGG member Jesse Kaufman, Sturgis, S.D. is 26 LPI and wraps the forend. English style ebony forend tip. LOP is 14 1/4" to a Mauser logo buttplate. 7lb 10oz
This piece remains new from the maker and test fired only. The rear sight leaves have not been filed in. It is very well done with classic styling. Mr. Caboth taught at the Colorado School of Trades and worked with Dakota and Waffen Hein on stock design. His inletting and metalsmithing are second to none. An outstanding open sight gun and well priced.
