Custom .458 Win. Mag. Left Hand Mauser Action Stocked Jay Frazier.
Magnum length, double square bridge, left hand Mauser action by Karl Hauptmann with solid side wall, Ted Blackburn trigger for M98 and an M70 3-position type safety, and Mauser type one-piece bottom metal with hinged straddle floor plate and inside-the-bow release. The bolt knob has 3-panel checkering and a jeweled bolt body. The rifle holds 4 rounds down.
A 4x36mm Schmidt & Bender scope is held on with quick release claw mounts fixed on the Nock/s form and rear bridge.
The 23 1/2" barrel is a hand struck, full octagon with integral raised quarter rib with 1 standing / 3 folding express rear sight lined and engraved for distance (50, 100, 150, 200 yds) and a raised ramp front sight with the coolest spring loaded sight hood that saises and lowers a Moon-Sight as the sight hood is depressed. The front sling attachment is also integral to the bottom of the barrel, and the barrel is ported on either side of the front sight. A second recoil lug is machined into the bottom of the barrel shank that interlocks with a channel cut into the stock.
The stock is nicely figured walnut that was expertly laid out and shaped by Jay Frazier, a stock maker who was mentored by legendary gunmaker, Al Biesen of Spokane, WA, and his influence is evident in this rifle stock. The stock has a 14" LOP over a red Pachmayer old English recoil pad, a left hand shadow line cheekpiece, inletted rear swivel on a slightly raised pedestal, point skeleton grip cap with smooth wood center, two engraved steel recoil bars, wrap over the wrist point pattern checkering on the grip and wrap around point pattern checkering on the forearm with an ebony forend tip. The stock is signed inside of the stock's barrel channel: "Joe Frazier's Stockmaker" for Joe Frazier member of the American Custom Gunmakers Association.
Rifle weight: 9lbs 3oz and remains in excellent overall condition, only showing a few handling marks on the stock.
