Description:
Custom FN Mauser 98 .458 Winchester Magnum. Unmarked as to maker or barrel brand, serial 3818 is based on a FN action dated 1953. The 24-inch barrel has an integral brake (marked “REX” below sight dovetail, taper begins approximately 5.5 inches from the muzzle) as well as a second recoil lug. Features include a island rear sight (one standing and two folding express leafs with sighting lines marked 100/200/300 yards), jeweled bolt body and extractor, Fischer two-position safety, Dayton Traister Mark II trigger and a fixed floorplate (engraved). The AAA-grade English walnut stock has wrap checkering (flat diamonds, partially-Mullered borders), color case grip cap, scalloped cheek rest with shadow line, toe line shield (tarnished, engraved “JAF”) and sling swivel studs. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 8.8 pounds and the length-of-pull is 14.75 inches. CONDITION: The bore is strong and bright. Metal and wood finishes are each approximately 80 percent. Trigger pull is crisp.
