Custom Left Hand David Yale Winchester 52 Sporter .22LR
**Sale Pending**
Description: **Sale Pending** David Yale Custom Winchester 52 Sporter (Sporting Rifle), .22LR, 7 lbs. 12 oz. (with scope), early first year 1934 Winchester 52 Sporter action, left hand, 21 1/2" medium weight barrel with quarter rib featuring one standing and two folding rear sight leaves, muzzle end of quarter rib scroll engraved, banded ramp front sight with hood, ramp scroll engraved, barrel engraved "David Yale, Bel Air MD", bolt knob three-panel scroll engraved, no safety, 5-shot removable magazine, bottom metal scroll and border engraved, trigger guard scroll engraved with cut-outs to form a heart, heart with initials "DY" and "PY", 13 1/2" LOP custom nicely figured walnut stock with much fiddleback, ebony forend tip, wrap checkering, Niedner style metal butt plate heavily scroll engraved with checkered center section, metal grip cap fully scroll engraved, sling swivel studs. Comes with mounted Leupold M8 4x compact scope. Condition: Excellent mechanical and bore condition, metal blue excellent but note the bolt handle has gone plum and there are a few plum spots on action, butt stock has slightly shrunk from butt plate leaving butt plate about 1/32" oversized, ebony forend tip has a professionally teardrop shaped ebony insert but we do not know why, possibly something was removed as a repair likely would not be that shape, otherwise a few dings in wood from handling. David Yale was a well known gunsmith who worked initially in Maryland and then relocated to Yellow Jacket, CO and finally Delta, CO. I believe he may now be retired. This rifle is purported to have been made by him for a previous wife thus the heart and initials. Note: the initials in the trigger guard heart are very shallow and easily polished off for you and your wife's (or girlfriend's) initials. SOLD |
