Custom Mauser 6mm Remington
Description:
Splendid full custom Mauser in 6mm Remington of unknown origin built on a surface ground 1909 Peruvian action which has been recontoured to a small ring configuration and all markings removed. Sightless tapered octagon barrel is 24" with an excellent bore. Receiver with two position side swing safety, checkered bolt release, and two panel bolt knob checkering. Blackburn trigger and bottom metal with straddle floorplate release. Leupold style bases and Redfield rings. Stocked in the American Classic style in a very nice piece of English Walnut with excellent color and contrast. Shadow line cheekpiece. Point pattern checkering with mullared border which wraps the forend. Two screw Fisher steel grip cap and smooth steel buttplate. Ebony forend tip. LOP is 13 1/2" Weight 7lb 15oz with rings.
This is an outstanding piece from an unknown maker but I would bet my bottom dollar he is a well known maker. Machining and inletting is top notch. Blueing at 98%. Stock finish at 96% with a few minot scrapes and dings from light hunting use. The 1909 Portugese action is very desireable do to its large ring small shank configuration which allows it to be recontoured to a small ring configuration. These have gotten quite difficult to find. Good value here.
