Custom Mauser K98 7x57. An unattributed rifle, serial 3743S has a 22.5-inch barrel (recessed crown, banded and hooded front sight assembly with brass-beaded blade, banded sling swivel stud, no provision for rear sight). Features include a rust blue finish, jeweled bolt body and extractor, custom bolt handle, checkered bolt knob (two bordered teardrops), custom shroud with a two-position safety, checkered bolt release lever, Blackburn trigger and Blackburn bottom metal (inside-the-bow release). Talley bases are attached. STOCK: The AA-grade claro walnut is appointed with a satin finish, ebony forend tip, wrap checkering, scalloped thumb cut, pedestalled release, pancake with wrapping scallop and shadow line, steel grip cap, toe line sling swivel stud and a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 7.4 pounds and the length-of-pull is 13.5 inches. CONDITION: The bore is outstanding. Trigger pull is crisp. Metal finish is at least 95 percent. Wood is approximately 90 percent with a modest distribution of handling impressions. The price is firm and layaway is available. $2,500 plus shipping.
