Dale Goens custom pre-64 Model 70 .338 Winchester Magnum. One of the final rifles built by Goens in his storied career, serial 190833 (rifle number 1154, matching bolt serial) has a 24-inch sporter barrel (.655-inch muzzle diameter, dished crown, marked Bedeaux). Featured include a rust blue finish, checkered bolt knob (two bordered and accented teardrops), reshaped and checkered bolt release button and a cloverleaf tang. STOCK: Crafted from a walnut blank with arrogant figure, dressings include an ebony forend tip, wrap checkering accented with ribbons and fleurs, scalloped cheek rest with shadow line, skeleton grip cap, sling swivel studs and a Pachmayr recoil pad. The stock is 2x signed and numbered to match the rifle. DIMENSIONS: Weight is 7.8 pounds and the length-of-pull is 13.5 inches. ACCURACY: The included test target shows a three-shot group (100 yards, Federal “blue box” 225-grainers) measuring just .306-inch center-to-center. Consignor reports similar exceptional accuracy with other ammo as well. CONDITION: The bore is strong and bright. Feeding/extraction/ejection are positive. Metal and wood finishes are each approximately 95 percent. The price is firm and layaway is available.
