Dean was a very well known custom gun maker from Rexberg Idaho. I met him at a gun show in Reno in the late 1980's. I purchased a rifle from him there, and we became friends. He built a number of rifles for me from 1988 up to about 1995.
I would pick a nice piece of walnut and decide on a caliber, pick an action, always a pre 64 70 or a Mauser and let him build one of his outstanding projects. 

I asked him one day about using a high grade composite stock instead of a wood blank.  He recommended a Pacific Research stock, and a pre 64 70 action. The .264 Win Mag was a cartridge he liked and I went with that. He added a few of his custom touches and it turned out Really Nice!
