Description:
This is a Custom Erfurt Mauser 98 in .257 Roberts with a 20" barrel. The "Thos Ward" barrel work was done by Franz Bryner. The sights are a drift adjustable bladed bead on smooth ramp base "the dovetail is a little loose". The rear sight is a drift adjustable leaf with a white diamond aiming reference on a Lyman base screwed to the barrel "one side of the leaf is broken" This also has a hand made safety and a Timney trigger. The engine turned bolt work was done by terry and has a case colored bolt shroud. Gene Long engraved the Pronghorn on the magazine baseplate with deep relief engraving of surrounding oak leaves. The stock is a one piece checkered Circassian Mannlicher stock, Horn caped pistol grip with exposed checkered wood, shadow line cheek piece, straight comb, Horn forend cap, and a checkered shotgun butt plate with exposed checkered wood. The stock has a sling mount on the belly of the stock and sling loop on the forend. The initial plate on the belly of the stock is left unmarked. The checking was done by Jerry Littleton and Tom Wary. The stock finish is done by Jerry in Holand & Holand "London Red". .257 Roberts
