GORGEOUS Griffith & Howe Style 1903 Springfield Custom Rifle in 270 Win Built in 1991 for Ernie Atkinson
Description: Another “ESTATE” firearm listing brought to you from Dust 2 Dollars who prides themselves on showing the complete gun in high quality pictures along with a detailed description for your consideration. We offer you a “GORGEOUS” Griffith & Howe Style 1903 Springfield Custom Rifle chambered in .270 Winchester built in 1991 for Ernie Atkinson. This was built for Ernie Atkinson of Astoria Oregon in 1999. The build started with a U.S. Rock Island Arsenal model 1903 high number "double-heat-treated" action. Bob Gibson did the barrel work and it is a 26” full tapered octagon with a rib. This was a solid round blank that was milled to this shape with the full rib and front sight from the blank. I would not even guess what the cost of this would be today. On the top of the rip is some engraved scroll work with a white metal insert that once had a name on it. It is a raised area and could have a name engraved back onto it of so desired. Ahead of the chamber area on the left side is more engraved scroll work with the caliber “,270 WIN.” engraved in the center. The chamber area is completely engraved with a Gold line outline as shown. The bolt was reshaped with a checkered flat on the knob. There are two fully engraved floor plates for the rifle as pictured. One has a matching insert of white metal that matches the rifle. The other is a work of art with “Yosemite Sam” in the center as shown. All of the engraving was completed by Dale Woody and is excellent as you can see. The bluing was completed by George Komadina of Washington State. The bluing on the rifle is in excellent (PLUS) condition as you can see. The original two-stage trigger is still on the rifle but has been cleaned up and breaks crisp and clean. The stock work was completed by Scott King also of Washington State. The stock is also in excellent condition as you can see. The stock shows just a few very minor marks from storage from the past 22 years. The barreled action was bedded into the stock as shown along with “E.A. 1999” written into the barrel channel. Harry Christensen purchased the gun from Ernie in 2001. Then it was sold to the person whose estate we are selling it for currently. SOLD This will be shipped fully insured UPS Ground to your FFL for $75. It will be shipped in a foam lined double walled cardboard box that we have manufactured for us so that your gun arrives safe. Payment to be made by USPS Money Order or Cashier’s Check. All firearms come with a 3-day inspection from D2D’s. SOLD Rifle Caliber: .270 Winchester |
